With news of Palm's expanded app support for webOS, the company has today been giving demos of multiple native apps -- all of which support background tasks and other features that blow away iPhone apps.

We're nearing the still unknown release date for the Palm Pre, and new details are slowly surfacing. Sprint demoed the Pre's WebOS apps at CTIA, including PalmOS Emulator, Google Maps and Pandora. These look fantastic.

What I think many has missed, is that the difference between Palm Pre putting Palm back to a position of "relevancy" or "saving" Palm, is perhaps of all places, CHINA! I'm not a tech analyst or a tech journalist in the US and certainly don't have any inside track to the people at Palm as many of these have. But think about it....

The news that MotionApps would be releasing a Palm-sanctioned emulator for webOS, allowing Palm OS software to run on the Pre, was met with much interest.
